Bespoke Acoustic Suites for Shows BASS UNITS
As part of Chesterfield Communications strategy to constantly improve their shows for both visitors and exhibitors alike, this year will see the launch of a new upper level of demonstration facility.
Bespoke Acoustic Suites for Shows will be now be available for all there shows and will usher in a new level of audio demonstration facility.
The organisers stress that these BASS units have not been developed as low cost enclosures to fill space they have been specifically designed to provide a level of audio performance superior to the average Hotel Suite or converted Bedroom. There appearance and function has been a priority.
Uniquely each BASS unit will also have a separate hospitality footprint directly in front or to the side which will be completely self contained.
A quality entrance door, ventilation, bespoke electrics, branding etc are all included in the package as is the Hessian finish to all the panels. There will be a one metre walkway between each unit thus ensuring no party walls and each can be specified for area and configuration with a maximum width currently of 5m. In the case of the London Sound & Vision Show 2007 they will also be accommodated within prime exhibition space in the new Conference Centre.
The technical brief for the unit was simple: to provide isolated individual demonstration areas with an acoustic quality similar to that of a good domestic listening room.
The final result is a unit manufactured from a combination of high mass and low mass materials inter spaced with fibrous sound insulation and finished in Hessian type cloth
The individual panels that make up the unit are a laminate of these materials with a final thickness of 100mm and an overall size of 2400 mm height and 1200mm width, sizes can be up to 5m width and lengths from 6m+ (that's around 16' 3" x 19' 6' on old money!) Each unit comes complete with a close fitted ceiling finished in a contrasting cloth.
Due to the production costs of these units just six will be made available for the London show in September in a range of sizes from 6 x 5 to 10 x 5, more will be added as the organisers capitalise on the production costs.
At the time of going to press the anticipated cost per square metre was circa £125 - £135 + vat, which includes the hospitality space.
