Hi-Fi mains pioneer Russ Andrews has announced the PowerMax Plus™ cable to provide a cost effective upgrade for existing hi-fi and home cinema systems.
Working with an industrial cable manufacturer, Russ Andrews has developed a brand new plug and IEC connector and a completely new manufacturing technique to take the performance of the existing PowerMax to a new level.
The large gauge and high purity copper Kimber Kable conductors, specially optimised for mains voltages, are connected to the newly designed nickel plated IEC and mains plugs. Unlike many nickel plated connectors however, Russ Andrews has opted to plate the entire surface area of the pins, including the fuse holder and not just the visible external parts. To ensure a secure connection within the body of the plugs, a technique of mechanically locking the cable to the plug has been employed which, whilst expensive, provides a low mains impedance. For a more secure physical connection, the new plugs are now heat-moulded onto the cable sheath.
