The 390 is no ordinary integrated...

no ordinary circuit...

Based on the long experience accumulated by Goldmund since 1984 in its Mimesis Amplifier design and the successive Job amplifier circuits, the NEW Telos amplifier circuit is a magnificent solution to the problems inherent in amplifier design.

To minimize the vibrational feedback loop existing between the output stage of the amplifier and its input stage, the 2 parts of the Telos circuits are now separated in two printed boards with Mechanical Grounding between them. So, the vibrations generated by the output stage during highly dynamic signals are not transmitted to the low level input stage, which are very sensitive to microphonic effect.

A considerable reduction of the intermodulation has been achieved by improving the linearity of all stages (new Mosfets, new driving transistors, more balanced design), but also by considerably decreasing the time distortion. Based on the Goldmund Leonardo research program, the Telos uses a high bandwidth circuit with minimal group delay distortion, taking great care of the cut-off distribution nodes so the group delay distortion is not measurable inside the audio bandwidth, a first in the industry.

The Telos amplifiers include a completely new protection circuit capable of disconnecting the power supply of the amplifier within 10 nanoseconds, in order to protect the speakers from the extremely fast energy burst it can generate. To absolutely suppress any influence of the protection circuit, it is not connected to the main circuit but detects current changes through a new “floating” device implemented by Goldmund for the first time in an audio design.

One of the most important sonic improvement provided by the new Telos circuit is due to its much better “driver control”. Obtained by lowering the output impedance of the amplifier to an extreme degree, it is achieved by the direct coupling, without serial protection relay, of the output Mosfets and by the unusually low impedance of the amplifier power supply, using several fast and low impedance transformers in parallel, ultra-fast rectifiers and multiplying low impedance capacitors of a new type for filtering.
