HIGH DEFINITION VIDEO DISTRIBUTION VIA CAT-5e INTRODUCED FROM RUSSOUND AND THE MULTI-ROOM COMPANY

The Multi-Room Company, Cheltenham based distributor of custom installation and hi-fi products, is introducing Russound’s new VM1 Video Matrix to enable distribution of high definition component video signals in conjunction with Russound’s renowned RNET® and other multi-room audio systems.

The VM1 Video Matrix comes with a range of input options, from the standard four component source inputs and four zone outputs to a maximum of eight sources being routed to eight zones. Analogue high definition component signals up to 1080p are supported.

CAT-5e cables up to 300 feet (90m) in length can be used without signal loss and these are terminated in each of the zones by connection to a VMR1 Receiver, which is a single gang in-wall device installed in each room where component video is required. The VMR1 receives the CAT-5e cable and provides component video RCA sockets for connection to the display with a standard component video cable.

Integration with Russound’s CAM, CAV and CAA66 multiroom systems is seamless and will also integrate with other distributed audio systems via RS-232 serial control.

Doug Gale, managing director, said “Public interest and awareness of high definition video is increasing rapidly. Customers who are specifying high end multi-room distributed audio systems are leading the calls for high definition video to be available throughout their installations. Now, with the new Russound VM1, there is a solution, which meets the consumer demand and provides multi-source, multi-zone HD distribution. Once again Russound are leading the way with affordable, cutting edge technology that delivers and works.”

* Currently, the NTSC version of the VM1 also allows input of s-video and composite signals which are subsequently up converted to component signals.

Notes to editors

Founded in 2000, The Multi-Room Company was established to provide a one-stop solution to the developer, self-builder and custom installation market. Initially importing and distributing multi-room AV brand Russound, the business swiftly added lighting control and automation specialists Centralite, structured wiring specialists Levition Integrated Networks, and automation and security specialists HAI and recently speaker specialists Atlantic Technology to their portfolio.

Clients have come to rely upon the excellent level of support that the company now offers. As members of both CEDIA and BADA the Multi-Room Company has a long-term commitment to training and development - week long blocks of training courses run once per month at the Cheltenham headquarters.
