Introduction
Edgar who are based in Slovakia, have been quietly making some truly astonishing products for a while now and Metropolis Music is so pleased to be able to bring the brand to the UK.
It is natural when you know how much something costs to have certain expectations about the sound. We did and were very shocked when the Edgar range quite frankly embarrassed other products at the same price.... and by quite a margin....
Two amplifiers, CD Player, Phono Stage and Headphone Amplifier are available. Each is an exceptional product and we thought we would focus on one of them in this press release - the TP105VR.
Edgar TP105VR
The Edgar TP105VR Integrated Amplifier contains two output stages in ultralinear design, using high quiescent current. Input signal from one of the five inputs is connected to the volume regulator through the input selector using input relays and adjusted input is connected to the record output. From the volume regulator, the signal is passed to the first stage with 12AX7 triode in common cathode mode. Second stage is realized with ECC81 triode as an amplifier and phase inverter. The power pentode are matched, with stabilized control grid bias.
The amplifier output is provided with output transformers which allow connecting of 4 and 8 Ohms loudspeaker systems.
The amplifier is provided with controlled heating voltage and delayed connection of anode voltage and with stabilized heating voltage for the 12AX7 and ECC81. Power supply has big 450VA toroidal transformer and anode voltage is rectified by vacuum tubes.
Amplifier contains 12 tubes and is equipped by remote control.
All tubes are brand Electro Harmonix with exception of PY88 which is brand RFT.
