Goldmund Talos 200
The Goldmund Telos Amplifier family has created a level of accuracy, dynamics and transparency never before encountered in any other Power Amplifier design.
The various progress embedded in the new Telos circuit are based on the long experience accumulated by Goldmund since 1984 in its Mimesis Amplifier design and the successive Job amplifier circuits.
Telos Circuit introduction...
One of the most important sonic improvements provided by the new Telos circuit is due to its much better "driver control".
Obtained by lowering the output impedance of the amplifier to an extreme degree, it is achieved by the direct coupling, without serial protection relay, of the output Mosfets and by the unusually low impedance of the amplifier power supply, using several fast and low impedance transformers in parallel, ultra-fast rectifiers and multiplying low impedance capacitors of a new type for filtering.
Telos 200....
The Goldmund Telos 200. is the smallest mono amplifier of the Goldmund "High-End" line of products.
Only slightly bigger than the Mimesis 18.4 it replaces, the Telos 200 uses a Telos circuit derived from the one in the Telos 400. It provides unique convenience with built-in digital input, auto-start circuit with signal-sensing and input attenuator. Using the latest version of the Telos circuit makes it also part of the most advanced amplifiers in the Goldmund line and provides it with an exceptional sound quality in addition to its unique functionality.
Advantages of the Telos 200
- Very high power : > 200W/ch on 8 Ohms. More than 400W on 8 Ohms before clipping. This transient power is the best guarantee for hyper-realistic dynamic changes.
- Ultra-high speed as all the Telos Amplifiers : DC to 2MHz bandwidth at full power before protection.
- Unique circuit time accuracy : better than 100ps. A unique figure in the industry. Time distortion remains the most detrimental type of distortion introduced by analogue electronics, because it represents a form of signal degradation not existing in real life. This figure is rarely published by high-end Audio manufacturers due to the poor results achieved by most today's design.
- Unbalanced and Balanced input available. Allows the use of a balanced preamplifier.
- Thermal Grounding construction : The power output Mosfets are assembled on a large gold-plated pure copper heat-transmitter to achieve an ultra-fast heat transfer and so limit temperature-related dynamic losses. The isolators used are in specially-treated Kapton, the thinnest and best isolators providing the highest thermal transfer rate.
- Ultra-fast power supply design : 4 built-in high-speed transformers, new rectifiers and low capacitor values are used in the design in order to provide the fastest possible signal amplification without power-supply-induced contamination.
- Signal Sensing auto power on with soft start to avoid power surges in multi-amp systems. Ultra-safe operation controlled by processor for glitch avoidance.
- Goldmund Speaker cable coaxial connector in addition to the traditional 5-way post.
- Built-in digital to analogue converter of Alize5 technology with separate digital output to link 2 amplifiers on a single S/PDIF cable
