Mark Levinson could very well have in its hands - a ground breaking new kind of power amplifier design
Friday 2 March 2007 By Nigel Crump
Mark Levinson No. 53 is on its way... At the recent WCES show in Las Vegas Mark Levinson displayed to distributors and select dealers a design study / concept for it's forthcoming Reference Monaural power amplifier the No 53.
Although still a work in progress at this stage, the new No 53 uses a striking update of the old No 33 chassis and architecture. Although tall like it's predecessor the new No 53 is much slimmer and can be used in a rack mountable configuration if required. The front panel features a new Mark Levinson back lit logo and front display.
Circuit details and topology are sketchy at this point and many details are yet to be finalised. Power output will be in the region of 400 to 500 watts, with a subsequential doubling of power into lower loads.
Further details of the design, will be made available over the coming months, including the anticipated launch date.
Warmest Regards,
