Nagra to Ship New Series of CD Players Nagra, the Audio division of the Kudelski Group, manufacturer of high-end audio electronics and ultimate professional sound recorders, announced today that it is shipping the first of
its highly anticipated CD player range.
These CD players are a historic first for Nagra, who wanted to complete the high-end HiFi product line with a player of uncompromising sonic quality, unparalleled precision and robustness synonymous with the Nagra brand the world over.
After 20 years, CD is a respected and mature format; it brings excellent performance and discs are available from virtually infinite catalogues. Nagra’s ambition with this new family of players is to offer the finest possible CD player, which can reproduce at home, the original quality of a concert or studio recording, often made using a Nagra recorder - the absolute reference.
The mechanics of the Nagra CD players boast a multitude of original and innovative solutions. The electronics were entirely designed to respect the integrity in the disc reproduction and hence perfectly restitute the original recording. The solutions implemented are inspired directly from those used in the
professional recorders, particularly the NAGRA VI – a new generation recorder due to be released later this year.
Three CD models are available: CDT transport with AES, S/PDIF, and optical outputs, CDP player offering a complete array of XLR and RCA outputs, with fixed analog outputs, and CDC concept with the full array of XLR and RCA outputs, variable outputs, balance control and discrete headphone section.
Nagra has demonstrated its CD player range at a number of worldwide trade shows, including the Home Entertainment 2006 show in Los Angeles and the 2006 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver. Nagra will demonstrate its CDP again at CES in January in a special venue at the Mirage Hotel during normal show hours, more information available soon.
